Crispy Parmesan Biscuits Recipe

In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the butter. Using fingertips or a pastry blender, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles a coarse meal. Stir in the Parmesan and green onions. Add the buttermilk and olive oil. Stir until the mixture forms a dough. Drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet in 12 equal sized pieces. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until golden. Cool the biscuits for 10 minutes then transfer to a rack to cool completely.Slice each biscuit in half and spread the bottom half with 1 teaspoon of lemon butter. Add some arugula leaves and place a small slice of smoked salmon on top. Add the top half of the biscuit and serve.Lemon ButterIn a small bowl, mash the butter and lemon zest together using a fork. The first time I tried this recipe, I followed it exactly and found my biscuits to not rise and were also quite salty. I changed the Parmesan cheese that I was using to a better quality one and also handled the biscuits when shaping them. This seemed to fix the problems I had the first time I tried this recipe. I found that if I just let it barely come together they seemed to rise a lot better in the oven than having over handled them. Hopefully, this may help the other commentors who said their biscuits didn rise perhaps you handled it too much? Also, I now since cut the addition of salt to this recipe since I think the salt in the Parmesan is enough. Other than that, I still follow this recipe exactly and it great! Thank you Giada! If you dont feel that watching Giada on the food network is appropriate viewing for your children then you all should be living in a glass bubble away from society. If I wanted to read a sound off on fashion, I pull up Extra TV show website, and I rather not. I did not care for the sanwich, however. As for comments made about Giada appearance and choice of clothing, I would not have posted my thoughts but since there are some mixed reviews posted, I will as well. I have just learned to expect to see her in the same cleavage bearing ensembles every time she is on the air. Once in a while would be understandable, but obviously she makes it a point to dress this way. I am not sure it necessary. I don think anyone is jealous; it more a matter of there being a time and place for everything. This is just not the right venue. There are several other attractive women on the FoodNetwork who could do same, but they prefer to keep the focus on the cooking.
